READ TO THE RHYTHM!

The Peoria Heights Public Library urges families to march on over for our 2015 SUMMER READING CHALLENGE! During the month of June, the library will host a variety of FREE activities for children and teens that encourage and support a love of reading. This year’s music-themed program’s registration begins on May 18. Children from birth through high school are invited to participate. Check out all the details on our Summer Reading page, on the “Children’s” tab and on Facebook!

NEW – MAKE YOUR OWN COPIES & SCANS

The library has a new, multi-function copier/printer/scanner. Available for public use, the unit is capable of full color output. Other features include double-sided and large format copying. The unit also has a built-in USB port so that users can print from or store jobs to a flash drive.

DIRT, WORMS AND TOMATO SAUCE

Children from around Peoria Heights are getting dirty in “Dirt, Worms and Tomato Sauce.” Started by the library and Richwoods Township, the program teaches children in grades 1-4 about gardening and nutrition. The first week began with the kids discovering soil types, meeting the garden’s earthworm helpers and planting vegetable seeds. Soon they’ll be tending the growing plants and anticipating the harvest. Next time you’re at the library, stop by the garden and check out the children’s progress.
