Get a Library Card

Any resident living in Peoria Heights (kindergarten or older) may obtain a library card. There is no charge for the initial card. If the card is lost, adults and teens will be charged $5.00 for a replacement; juveniles will be charged $2.00 for a replacement card. The card is valid for 3 years and may be renewed upon expiration, as long as you remain a Peoria Heights resident. Two forms of identification are required, one must show your current mailing address.

Borrowing Privileges

A patron must live within the city limits of Peoria Heights to obtain our library card. However, patrons with a valid library card from other public libraries in Central Illinois may check out materials from our library. Likewise, our Library cardholders have borrowing privileges and access to other libraries’ collections.

If something is not in the Peoria Heights Public Library, staff and/or patrons may search the RSA Cat online library catalog to find which libraries have it and then conveniently have the item delivered to the Peoria Heights Public Library or a library of your choice. Staff may also be able to help you locate Items that are not in the RSA Cat online library catalog through our InterLibrary Loan Service.

Place Holds

Place or Change a Hold
When you want an item that is not available, you can place a hold on it. When the item is available for pickup, the library will notify you by an email (if your email address is on your account) or by a phone call.

To place holds: After searching in RSA Cat for the item you want, click on Place Hold next to the item
You will be prompted to log on if you have not previously done so. The Submit Hold window appears.
If available, select a library where you would like to pick up the item.
(Optional) Type an Expiration Date if you want to tell the library that you will not need the item after this date.
(Optional) Type a Suspension Start Date and a Suspension End Date if you want to put the hold "on hold." For example, you are going on vacation. If you enter suspension dates, your name is temporarily removed from the hold queue. At the end of the suspension, your original place in the hold queue is restored.
Click Submit Hold to place the hold.
To change holds:
In the My Account window, click the Review My Account link.
Click the Holds tab.
Click Edit Hold next to the item you want to change. A new window appears.
Make the appropriate changes to the pickup location, expiration date, or suspension dates.
Click Submit Hold to activate the changes.
